Dear Mr. Harrison,
INTERNATIONAL BRIGADE
Thanks for your letter of 10th Oct., which has been awaiting attention on account of my absence at the Congress at Blackpool last week.
You asked for information as to how many men are still in prison in Spain who were members of the "Blue Division". I think there is some understandable confusion in your Council in this matter. The Spanish Blue Division was a party of Spanish volunteers who fought with the German Forces on the Russian Front during 1941 and 1942.
I think really your query is to the number of persons still in Spain who were members of the International Brigade. The latest information on that point shows that no British person is in prison in Spain on account of activities with the International Brigade. This, I think, answers your second question.
Yours sincerely,
Secretary,
Trades Councils' Department.
