BASQUE CHILDREN'S COMMITTEE.
MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT THE HOUSE OF COMMONS ON MAY 31ST, 1937, AT 2.30 P.M.
PRESENT:
The Duchess of Atholl, M.P. (In the Chair), Mr. Noel Baker, M.P., Dame Janet Campbell, Commissioner Barnett (The Salvation Army), Canon Craven (The Crusade of Rescue), Dr. Kahl (Save the Children Fund), Mr. H.D. Watson (Save the Children Fund), Miss Lloyd Williams (The Society of Friends), Miss Anderson (The Society of Friends), Mr. J.S. Middleton (The Labour Party), Mr. H.V. Tewson (The Trades Union Congress), Mr. E.P. Harries (The Trades Union Congress), Dr. H.B. Morgan (The Spanish Medical Aid), Mrs. Wilfrid Roberts, Mr. D.R. CONSTITUTION OF THE COMMITTEE.
(a) Minutes of Previous Meeting.
The Chairman raised this question. Mr. Roberts reported that there had not been a previous meeting of the Committee as such; only consultation with members of various organisations and with officers of the National Joint Committee. There were, therefore, no minutes.
(b) Membership.
The organisations represented were introduced to each other. In addition it was moved, seconded and carried that a warm invitation be given to the following to serve on the Committee;
Mrs. Leah Manning, Mrs. Wood, Dr. Russell, Miss Todd, Dame Janet Campbell, Mrs. Roberts.
(c) Name.
After some discussion it was finally agreed that the Committee be henceforth known as "The Basque Children's Committee" (National Committee for the Care of Basque Children).
