THE REPORT OF THE COMMISSION
Copies of the report were distributed among members present and ten minutes allowed for silent reading.
Before opening the discussion the Chairman said that the Commission had already given their report to the Press for release during the weekend. She felt the Committee would differ with some of the points in the report but said she had had an interview with the Commission that morning and that when the Committee had heard her account of the interview they might be reassured on some points.
Miss Rathbone said she had to leave early but would like to make a statement first. She deeply regretted the report but as the Committee had agreed to set up the Commission they could not refuse to abide by its recommendations unless these went outside the Terms of Reference. She felt the two main points of the report were the sending of the Committees representatives with the first children to be repatriated and the initial number of children to be sent
