PRESENT: Mr. Wilfrid Roberts (Chair)
Dame Janet Campbell
1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE: Received from
2. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING: The Minutes of the last Meeting were circulated, read and signed.
3. MATTERS ARISING OUT OF THE MINUTES:
(a) Faringdon. Mrs. Carritt had written to say that the Oxford Committee was trying to obtain further information about the house at Shipton-under-Wychwood. They hoped to have more details about their scheme in time for the next meeting of the Administrative Sub-Committee. They were also doing their utmost to arrange for the younger children to be placed in private families in Oxford.
It was reported that a new cook had not yet been engaged, and as the matter is of some urgency, the Committee agreed that the Faringdon Home should be pressed to take a man and wife cook. Dr. Morgan had two very suitable people in mind.
(b) Brighton and Worthing. Dr. Morgan stated that a Committee had been called in Worthing for December 5th to discuss Sr. Omegna's proposals. The results would be communicated to the Administrative Sub-Committee.
Sr. Omegna had also written giving details of his scheme. He had in mind a house (Westcombe) in Brighton which seemed very suitable and he suggested that where advisable some of the boys could be transferred to other homes. Westcombe was to be had rent free. He had drawn up a list of suggested members to serve on the new Committee and be responsible for the running of the home.
The Committee agreed that Sr. Omegna should be empowered to carry on with his plan and to take Westcombe if he could not find other accommodation.
(c) Margate. Sr. Uranga said he had visited the Home but had not seen the Warden. He had spoken with Mr. Alonso who said that he and Mrs. Alonso were quite willing to come up to the Committee to answer any complaints that had been made. The Maestras and Auxiliars said there had been some little improvement in the conditions during the last 20 days.
