              MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE BASQUE CHILDREN'S ADMINISTRATIVE SUB-COMMITTEE held at 4, Great Smith Street, London, S.W.1. on Tuesday, November 15th, 1938 at 5 p.m.

1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE: None
2. MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING:     The Minutes of the last meeting, having been circulated, were taken as read and signed.
3. BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES:
(a)     Brighton.   Dr. Morgan read a letter from Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Roberts who had offered their services as Wardens to the Brighton Home.     The House Committee was to interview him and it was suggested that Mr. Roberts should come to the next meeting of the Sub-Committee for a further interview.     His appointment would depend to a certain extent on the financial position of the Home, which had at the moment an outstanding debt of £80. Dame Janet Campbell suggested that the Home be visited again. Agreed.
i. Letter from Brighton Equitable Co-operative Society. The Brighton Equitable Co-operative Society was anxious to know what had happened about the Home.     Miss Arne had reported that she saw Mr. Wilkinson, and he had assured her that if matters were put right, the Society would continue to give their support.     It was proposed that a diplomatic letter be written to Mr. Wilkinson, Agreed.
ii. Alfonso Garcia.     Dr. Morgan said this boy was at present employed at King's College as lift boy and receiving a salary of 13/- per week.     He was living at the Youth Hostel.     The question then arose as to the extent to which boys working in London should contribute towards their maintenance.     There were at present 8 or 10 boys in London, whose incidental expenses were being defrayed mainly by Miss Heatley and Mr. Kavanagh. It was proposed that someone should be made responsible for the boys and that the amount of pocket money should be standardised.     It was agreed that in the case of Alfonso Garcia, his salary should be paid direct to Head Office towards his adoption, and that he should receive a fixed sum for pocket money.     The general rate suggested for all boys was 3/- pocket money  and a further allowance for lunch and fares.
