SAVE THE BASQUE CHILDREN FUND.
Very many thanks for your letter of the 21st May enclosing £6 as a donation to the above fund. I need hardly say how we appreciate this contribution and the further efforts which are to be made by the Movement in Bristol to help this very worthy cause.
One point which the Movement in Bristol should fully appreciate is that the children will be in this country until conditions are more normal in Spain. I understand that there is a general estimate that the total cost per child is usually in the region of about 15/- per week for overhead charges, including establishment expenses. I have, however, no experience in regard to this matter, but probably the figure will be some guide to you. You will therefore appreciate that you would require in the region of a minimum of £75 per week to maintain one hundred children and it would be advisable for you to look round to see how far the burden can be spread by you receiving assistance from other quarters in the locality.
