Press communique : 23rd meeting of the Committee

              INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR THE APPLICATION OF THE AGREEMENT REGARDING NON-INTERVENTION IN SPAIN. 
Press Communiqué, 18th June, 1937.
The twenty-third meeting of the Committee was held at the Foreign Office to-day at 4.30 p.m.
In view of the fact that, since the 19th April last when the Scheme of Observation came into operation and up to 8th June inclusive, out of a total of four hundred and sixty-six ships which had called at Observation Ports for the purpose of complying with the Observation Scheme, none had called at the Observation Port of Cherbourg, the Committee agreed that as the facilities offered to shipping at the other Observation Ports were sufficient, Cherbourg should cease to be an Observation Port as from to-day's date.
The Committee agreed that His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom should be invited to address to the two parties in Spain on behalf of the Committee the appeal attached hereto regarding the conduct of the present conflict in that country.
