Mr. C. Dukes,
The National Union of General and Municipal Workers,
5, Endsleigh Gardens,
London, W.C.1.
Dear Mr. Dukes,
SAVE THE BASQUE CHILDREN FUND.
I have your letter of the 7th instant in regard to the above matter. I may say that since the appeal was sent out it appears that the majority of Unions have not held Executive meetings and comparatively few Unions have forwarded subscriptions. The principal of these are:
Transport and General Workers' Union .. £500
Union of Post Office Workers ..........£300
National Union of Railwaymen ..........£300
Amalgamated Society of Woodworkers .... £250
National Society of Operative Printers and Assistants .....................£100
The total amount to date is £2,840. We hope that the generous contributions from our affilliated Unions will considerably increase.
I shall be extremely grateful if your Executive can see their way to make a very generous contribution to the great humanitarian task which has been undertaken.
Yours sincerely,
General Secretary.
