2. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING : The Minutes of the last meeting, having been circulated, were taken as read and signed.
3. MATTERS ARISING ON THE MINUTES:
a) Brighton - Dr. Morgan reported that a difficulty had arisen in connection with the reorganisation of the Brighton home. Westcombe would probably be taken over by the War Office, which meant that the East Sussex Committee would have to find alternative accommodation. However, Sr. Omegna had just heard that it might still be possible to have Westcombe and meanwhile had consented to take over the existing Brighton home as from January 19th. The Brighton Committee had been liquidated and the warden at Girton House was to leave in the next few days.
b) Margate - Dr. Morgan brought back a very satisfactory report of Margate. She had found a considerable improvement since the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Walsh. Mr. Walsh had already contacted several people in the town, among them the local education officer. Mrs. Joan Morris, one of the regional Organisers, had succeeded in setting up a number of new committees in that area and a new Basque Committee established in Dover had already promised six adoptions. Dr. Morgan had attended a meeting of the House Committee at which Mr. Angell had not been present. Mr. May, Treasurer of the Margate Committee was confident that within two or three months the home would be on a sound financial basis. Dr. Morgan had written a letter to Mr. Angell accepting his resignation as Chairman of the House Committee but asking him to serve as a member. The House Committee had agreed to be responsible for the outstanding amount of £90 on Mr. Angell's bill, and Mr. May had said he would see Mr. Angell again and try for a reduction.
Dr. Morgan said that Mrs. Alonso had written asking permission to attend the Basque Administrative Sub-Committee in order that an investigation should be made into her dismissal. The Committee agreed to Dr. Morgan's proposal that she be informed that the Committee had decided not to go further into the matter.
