1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE: Received from Dr. Ellis Mrs. Gee
2. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: The Minutes of the last meeting having been circulated, were taken as read and signed.
3. MATTERS ARISING ON THE MINUTES:
(a) Comeragh Road. Dr. Morgan reported that six of the boys living in the West Kensington Home had obtained employment.
(b) Margate. Dr. Morgan said she had received a report from Mr. Walsh, Warden of Laleham, that six of the older boys were to attend the Pettman Central School as from February 20th. He had also arranged with the Director of Education for the younger children to attend elementary schools immediately after Easter.
Dr. Morgan said that Mr. Watts had now resigned the Secretaryship of the Home, and she suggested that Mr. Walsh be asked to take on these duties for the period of one month, as an experiment. Agreed. It was reported that the Civil Service Clerical Association had offered to adopt all those children in Margate who had not yet been adopted. This meant that about 40 children would be maintained by them.
(c) Birmingham. Dr. Morgan read a letter from Alderman Crump, Lord Mayor of Birmingham, in which he stated that he had made investigations into the organisation of the Birmingham Home. He was satisfied that the children are adequately fed and thought that the discipline maintained was very lenient. He considered that the Spanish staff was not pulling its weight and that trouble had been made by certain visitors to the home. For this reason the Birmingham Committee had decided to close Elford Hall to visitors for one month. No-one would be allowed to visit without a permit from Alderman Crump,
