              EXTRACT FROM MINUTES OF NATIONAL COUNCIL OF LABOUR.
22nd December 1936.
21. SPAIN: 
A Report of the Meeting of the International Federation of Trade Unions General Council and the Bureau of the Labour and Socialist International held in Paris on December 4th and 5th was circulated. Sir Walter Citrine, Mr. Lathan, and Mr. Gillies reported verbally in support of the document.
Mr. Grenfell as a member of an All-Party Group of Members of Parliament reported upon the Group's visit to Spain.
Sir Walter Citrine followed with a report upon the administration of the "Help for the Workers of Spain" (International Solidarity Fund).
After discussion, it was
RESOLVED:      "That the Officers of the Council make enquiries as to the possibility of a financial arrangement to facilitate the supply of food under Co-operative auspices."
"Further, that the Officers prepare a Report dealing with the administration of the Fund to date for the providing of information for Trade Union Executive Councils and Branches, and Constituency and Local Labour Parties., etc."
Sir Walter Citrine also reported that he had been invited to attend a meeting at the House of Commons for the purpose of assisting in the formation of a Committee to co-ordinate the various activities for Spanish aid. He had declined, but had received a further communication containing the Resolutions adopted at the meeting. From discussion, it appeared that some of the organisations represented at the meeting seemed to be concerned with supporting the Spanish rebels. After discussion, it was
RESOLVED:    "That the National Council continue its activities on its own lines under its own auspices."
