Mr. V. Tewson, Transport House.
Dear Vincent,
I received yesterday a request of one of our Spanish Comrades, for which I need your kind assistance.
They have to send from London to the social-democratic newspaper "Adelante" an amount of £12.0.0, which has been collected here among the socialist Spanish refugees. He has made the necessary steps with the money-order department and he has obtained permission to send the money, provided he can produce a certificate by a British citizen of good standing who can vouch for the good faith of the person in whose name the amount will be sent.
The permit will be written in the name of Pablo Alvaro, Vice-chairman of our Spanish Trade Union Group in Great Britain. We know this Comrade and we can give you every assurance that he is an honest person and that the circumstances in which he sends this money are absolutely genuine.
Would you render us the required service in signing the enclosed statement?
Thank you in advance.
Yours cordially,
W. SCHEVENELS.
General Secretary
