Dear Sir,
In the name of the Basque Government and of the Basques in this country, I wish to thank the National Council of Labour for their statement published in the Press on the 29th June, which renders justice to the fight of the democratic forces in the Iberian Peninsula, and especially for their recognition of the fate of Gernika [Guernica], the ancient and beloved capital of the Basques.
It is very gratifying to us to see that the Labour Party in this country fully understands that all liberties are interdependent, and that Fascism, whatever form it takes and wherever it may be found must be stamped out after the war.
The   Basques, together with the other Peninsula nationalities, the Catalans, Galicians and Castillians, will always fight for democracy and the freedom of our nations from foreign domination.     We feel sure that we shall never lack the firm support of the progressive elements which make up the Labour Party.
I should be most grateful if you could let me have the full text of the statement, as I have only seen the reports appearing in the Press.
