AID FOR SPANISH PEOPLE
Dear Friend,
The continued assistance of Fascist countries to the rebel forces in Spain is imposing a great strain upon the resources of the Spanish Government. It is now clear, however, that with the help, on a growing scale, of the friends of progress all over the world the Spanish people will defeat the opposing army of Fascism.
From the outset our committee has done all possible to organise support in Britain. We have co-operated in forming and assisted the work of the Spanish Medical Aid Committee and participated in arranging and financing the Committee of Enquiry, which exposed the extent of Fascist intervention in Spain. We are now assisting with the sending of the Youth Foodship to Spain.
Now we are appealing for a special fund to help the valiant International Anti-Fascist force, which is taking the brunt in the defence of Madrid, and which has been a big factor in turning the scales against Franco. They have defended the women and children of Madrid against wholesale massacre.
In their ranks are large numbers of German, Italian and Austrian Anti-Fascists, which our Committee have helped to get to Spain when the People's Front Government opened its frontiers to political refugees.
The International Forces now require supplies of all kinds. Food, warm clothing, sanitary supplies, gas masks, transport, etc. As the numbers are rapidly growing we need all the help we can get.
We appeal to you and your organisation to give liberally for this great work for humanity. Victory for them is a victory for world democracy and Peace.
Yours faithfully.
ISABEL. BROWN,
Secretary.
