Dear Colonel Stanley,
			Internment Case.
Our attention has been called to the case of a Mr. J. G. Navas, a Spanish Republican who is said to have been interned since July 1942, in Camp Number 6, Nairobi, without any known reason for the internment having been given.   According to the information received he had joined the crew of a British ship after the end of the Spanish Civil War in which he had fought; but on its arrival in Greece was forcibly transferred by the Greek Government to another ship of Panama registry in July 1940.   The crew of this latter ship, which carried emigrant passengers escaping from Balkan countries, was arrested in November 1940 at Cyprus and taken to Palestine.
After a trial at Haifa which acquitted the crew of any responsibility, Mr. Navas was later in 1942 sent to the present internment camp where he is
