A meeting of the above Committee was held on Tuesday, May 17, 1938, at 5 p.m.

1. 'MILK FOR SPAIN' FUND
Mr. Gillies reported that the contributions received at Transport House up-to-date were as follows:-

Total ... £6,730
At the offices of the Co-operative Union in Manchester £12,800 had been received, making a grand total of £19,530.
The whole income had been spent on the purchase of condensed milk or milk powder, with the exception of about £400; every consignment, with the exception of the consignment en route of the value of about £1,000 had arrived safely.
2. ALBERT HALL DEMONSTRATION
Mr. Morgan Phillips made a report on the arrangements and the position with regard to the sale of tickets for the Albert Hall Demonstration on Sunday, May 22, 1938.
After a discussion upon the problem of publicity, the Committee unanimously adopted the following Resolution:
"This Committee expresses its disappointment at the lack of support and publicity given to the Spain Demonstration of the National Council of Labour at the Albert Hall on Sunday next by the "Daily Herald", and requests the Chairman and Secretary of the Party to interview the Managing Director forthwith in order to obtain the necessary support."
