MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE SPANISH RELIEF COMMITTEE HELD ON THURSDAY, 26TH NOVEMBER, 1936, at 5 p.m. at TRANSPORT HOUSE, SMITH SQUARE, S. W. 1.

Mrs. Leighton (in the chair) Miss Cocker, Mrs. Davey. Mrs. Greenwood, Mrs. Hastings, Mrs. L'Estrange Malone, Lady Marley, Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Middleton, Mrs. Shepherd, Mrs. Short, and Miss Sutherland (Secretary).
APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
Apologies for absence were received from Miss Adam, Mrs. Adamson, Miss Bondfield, Lady Noel Buxton, Miss Carlin, Mrs. Clynes, Miss Colman, Miss Elliott, Miss Lees, Miss Manicom and Mrs. Rackham.
MINUTES
The Minutes of the meeting's held on 22nd and 29th October which had been circulated, were read, adopted and signed.
MEMBERS
The Secretary reported that the majority of those invited to join the Committee, with the exception of six, had expressed their willingness to serve. Several were unable to join because of health or domestic reasons. A few had not replied.
A draft letter heading it was proposed to have printed was submitted to the Committee and approved.
REPORT ON APPEAL
(a) Garments
The Secretary gave details of the garments (approximately 800) received up to date, and thanks were expressed to Mrs. Oliver and Mrs. Shepherd for their assistance in sorting the garments. She further reported the arrangements made through the International Solidarity Fund and Spanish Embassy for despatch of goods to Spain.
(b) Money Contributions
The Secretary reported that in addition to the gifts of knitted garments and wool, the sum of £125. 16. 3d. was received from Labour Party Women's Sections, Transport & General Workers' Women's Guilds, N.U.R. Women's Guilds, Women's Co-operative Guilds, the Noel Buxton Trust, and individuals. She further reported that wool to the amount of half the contributions had already been ordered from the Co-operative Wholesale Society and delivery was expected.
