              MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE SPANISH RELIEF COMMITTEE HELD ON THURSDAY, 25th NOVEMBER,  1937, AT 3 p.m. AT TRANSPORT HOUSE,  SMITH SQUARE, LONDON, S. V. 1
PRESENT:    Mrs. Leighton (in the Chair), Mrs. Ayrton Gould, Miss Nancy Adam, Miss Susan Lawrence, Mrs. Middleton, Mrs. Herbert Morrison, Mrs. Rackham, Mrs. Shepherd and Miss Sutherland (Secretary).

Apologies for absence were received from Mrs. Adamson, Mrs. Attlee, Mrs. Agnes Dollan, Mrs. Lavey, Mrs. Somerville Hastings, Mrs. Malone, Lady Noel-Buxton, Miss Madeleine Symons.
MINUTES:
The Minutes of meeting held on 23rd April which had been circulated were adopted and signed.
BUSINESS ARISING OUT OF MINUTES 
The Secretary reported that as there was a general disinclination among the Knitting Committees to turn to sewing the suggestion to approach the Co-operative Wholesale Society about the price of cotton materials and of cutting out garments in bulk had not been proceeded with.
SECRETARY'S REPORT:
(a) Finance.    The Secretary reported that the total income to date was £l,42d. 2s. 9d., and the amount in hand was approximately £8.
In view of the special appeal for Milk for Spain, no special appeal had boen sent to Sections at the end of October for donations for wool.
(b) Purchase and Distribution of wool. Up to date over 2,400 lbs of wool had been purchased and distributed to Knitting Committees and Groups, the bulk of it from the C.W.S. One or two Knitting Committees had continued throughout the Summer but the majority had decided to discontinue their work during the summer months and until after the Municipal Elections.
Many gifts of wool and knitted garments had of course been received.
(c) Despatch of Garments.    Up to date the following had been despatched:-   handmade garments (chiefly knitted) from Knitting Committees and individuals mainly from material supplied by us 25,211;    purchased from C.W.S. 10,942;    garments sent through Tailors and Garment 'workers' Union 1,60 7 - total 37,760.
In addition 156 blankets purchased from the C.W.S., 175 rolls or lengths of cloth (the latter gifts received through the Tailors and Garment Workers' Union) had (s) been despatched, as well as a few small bales of used clothing in good condition.
