              SPANISH MEDICAL AID COMMITTEE
Minutes of the Meeting held at 24, New Oxford Street, W.C.1. on June 22nd 1938.
Present:-

Mr. A. Watson, Dr. S.W. Jeger, Lady Hastings, Mr. R. Calder, Dr. J. Wright, Mr. T. Blewitt, Mr. N. Wiggins, Lord Faringdon, Professor J.R. Marrack, Mrs. L. Manning, Mr. W.A. Peacock, Dr. J.A. Gillison, Mr. G. Jeger and Dr. Eloesser (returned from Spain)
Apologies for absence were received from Dr. H.B. Morgan, Mr. F. Le Gros Clark, Mrs. I. Brown, Mr. C.H. Norman.
1. The Minutes of the Meeting held on June 15th were confirmed and signed.
2. Matters arising.
a) The Autochir and Ford Ambulance-Van had left on Saturday, June 18th, fully loaded with about 3 tons of medical supplies, food and books.
b) Nurse Hartland had returned from Spain on Friday, June 17th. She reported that Carmen is making a very good and rapid recovery and will be getting up soon.
c) Nurse Silverstein's expenses and fare are being covered by the C.S.I. in Paris, who have authority to reimburse us.
3. Dr. Eloesser who had been working in Spain with the American Unit was here for a few days prior to his return to the U.S.A. He gave an interesting account of the difficulties regarding supplies and the making of requisitions in Spain, and suggested that the Army Surgeons Requisitions Catalogues, as used in this country and America, be recommended to the Spanish Sanidad de Guerra as a model.
It was thought that this might be usefully discussed at the forthcoming Paris Conference.
4. Special Correspondence.
a) From the Foreign Office regarding the repatriation from Spain of wounded British members of the International Brigade, stating that there appeared to be no reason why emergency certificates enabling them to proceed to England should not be issued in Spain instead of Paris.
The Organising Secretary reported that he had sent a copy of the letter to the Dependents Aid Committee.
b) From the Tailors and Garment Workers Union (East London District) who are arranging a Fete at Epping on July 3rd with the object of raising funds for an Ambulance. In connection with the Sports Events, they asked whether individual members of the Committee would donate prizes.
c) The three months during [ ] each of which we had subscribed £30. towards the Centrale Sanitaire Internationale of Paris
