              SPANISH MEDICAL AID COMMITTEE
Minutes of the Meeting held at 24, New Oxford Street, W.C.1. on November 23rd, 1938.
Present:-   Dr. H.B. Morgan in the Chair.
Mrs. Leah Manning, Mrs. Isobel Brown, Dr. Joyce Wright, Professor J.R. Marrack, Mr. Trevor Blewitt, Mr. C.H. Norman, Mr. Ritchie Calder, Dr. H. Joules, Dr. J.A. Gillison, Dr. S.W. Jeger, Dr. H. Boyde, Mr. G. Jeger.
Apologies for absence were received from Miss N. Adam, Mr. J. Coyne and Lady Hastings.
1. The Minutes of the Meeting held on November 16th were confirmed and signed, with the addition of the following under the reference "A.E.U. Lorries":-   It was unanimously agreed that they be placed at the service of the Friends for the distribution of coal, wheat etc. if possible.
2. Matters Arising:-
a) Medical Delegation to Spain.
This was further discussed and Mr. Calder is going further into the matter, with the proposal that the delegation consist of Sir John Orr, Professor J.A. Ryle, Miss Harriet Chick and Professor L. Hogben.
b) A.E.U. Lorries.
Dr. Morgan stated that the Union intended purchasing lorries in accordance with the flow of funds and that no regular programme could be arranged at this stage.    It was agreed that Dr. Morgan approach them with a view to obtaining their permission for the two lorries now being sent out to be placed at the service of the Society of Friends.
c) The Organizing Secretary reported that the tyres needed for the Blood Transfusion Service had been bought and would be leaving on Friday together with the X-Ray films for Sabinosa.
3. Report of the Personnel and Technical Sub-Committee.
a)    Nurses Addy, Hathaway and Bowden were interviewed. They had been repatriated from Ucles as it had  been stated to them that no one could remain there who was "militarised". Mr. Holst had attempted to regularise matters, but the C.S.I. had forbidden him to intervene.   He is now on his way to England and will explain matters to the Committee on his arrival.
It was agreed that the Counsellor of the Spanish Embassy be seen regarding the position at Ucles and that, in the meantime, Miss Davson be asked whether Nurses Hathaway and Bowden could be fitted in at Barcelona.    (Mr. Norman dissented from this proposal).
Miss Addy also stated that lists of hospital requirements had been sent to the C.S.I. for transmission to us in accordance with the original proposals of the July Conference.    These had not yet been received here, but it was pointed out that letters written by Miss Addy from Ucles in
