The Chairman welcomed Mr. Lockyer to his first meeting, and Lord Faringdon on his return from Mexico.
1) Minutes of the meeting on the 21st December were confirmed and signed.
2) Matters arising :-
a) A full statement of our financial position had been prepared and would be incorporated in the January Bulletin which would be sent to all subscribers.
b) In reply to our enquiries Miss Davson had written from Spain that one parcel addressed to Nurse Slater had gone astray. It was agreed that Miss Davson and and Mr. Poole should be reminded that receipts should be sent to us in future for all goods sent to Spain.
c) Two tons of cod liver oil and malt had been purchased and despatched to Spain on the London Foodship.
d) No news had been received regarding the condition of Nurse Low, and it was decided that the other nurses returned from Spain should be asked to maintain contact with her.
e) Dr. Boyde mentioned that at the previous meeting it had been arranged that the proposed dinner (or reception) to the doctors who had served in Spain should be held under the auspices of this Committee. This was confirmed.
3) Correspondence:-
a) From Nurse Addy, from Barcelona, stating that her ship had put in there and that she hoped shortly to be leaving for Valencia on another boat.
b) A letter of thanks and appreciation from the refugee children at La Sabinosa for the Christmas gifts by the Committee. This was being reproduced in the January Bulletin.
c) Correspondence relating to our requests for free copies of medical literature for Dr. D'Harcourt. The British Medical Journal replied to the effect that one of the medical members of the Committee might send his copy to Spain. The British Journal of Surgery had acceded to our request and were also sending a bound volume of last year's issues. No reply had been received from the Lancet. Dr. Morgan offered to take up the matter with the British Medical Journal, and meanwhile Dr. Wright and Dr. Boyde promised to let us have their copies.
d) From Nurse Darton returned from Spain, asking whether we could assist her to obtain non-resident post under the L.C.C. It was agreed that this be referred to Mr. Hastings.
