              SPANISH MEDICAL AID COMMITTEE
Minutes of the meeting held at 24 New Oxford Street, W.C.1, on December 7th 1938.
Present:- Dr. H.B. Morgan (Chairman), Mr. T. Blewitt, Lady Hastings, Professor J.R. Marrack, Miss N. Adam, Dr. J. Wright, Mr. J. Coyne, Dr. S.W. Jeger, Mr. G. Jeger.
Apologies for absence were received from Mrs. Manning, Mrs. Brown, Dr. Joules.
1) The minutes of the meeting held on November 30th were confirmed and signed.
2) Matters Arising:-
a) There was no further information available regarding the proposed Medical Delegation to Spain.
b) The Audit was proceeding.     Mr. Lubbock had engaged a special man at our expense, within the limit of £5.5.0. laid down previously, but would not be charging us any fee.     At the present rate of progress it was hoped to have the audit completed in time for next week's meeting.
c) Although a cable had been sent to Mrs. Brown in Paris regarding Mr. Holst and Miss Addy,  she had apparently left before receiving it.     She had stated however that she saw no reason why the Committee's proposal should not be proceeded with, and accordingly arrangements were being made for Miss Addy to leave England for Ucles on Thursday December 8th.     A long letter from the C.S.I. was read explaining their attitude to Mr. Holst. It was agreed that this be referred to the Personnel and Technical Sub-Committee for their consideration,  together with the lists of requirements for Ucles.
d) Arrangements had been made by Dr. Jeger for Nurse Low to enter St. George's Home, Chelsea, under the L.C.C.
e) Dr. Morgan reported that he was selecting instruments from Down Bros. to the value of £100.  These would be ready in a few days.
3) Special Correspondence.
a) From the C.S.I., informing us of a new plan they are preparing for medical relief work amongst the civil population, particularly amongst refugees, and inviting our assistance.     They propose establishing a central pharmacy in Barcelona, together with a number of mobile dispensaries.     They estimate the cost at 140,000 francs for each vehicle (completely fitted) and 50,000 francs for the central pharmacy.     This was referred to the Personnel and Technical Sub-Committee for their consideration,
b) From Miss Phyllis Hibbert, formerly one of our nurses in Spain. She stated that she found it impossible to settle down in England and asked whether we could send her back to Spain. It was decided that we ask Miss Davson whether she could be placed in Barcelona.
