STATEMENT OF OFFICIAL SUPPORT.
I placed your letter of the 22nd November before the National Council of Labour at their last meeting, when the Council noted the request made by your Committee.
You will be aware, of course, of the many appeals which have been made to our affiliated Unions in connection with the International Solidarity Fund. In addition to this it is known that certain Trade Union branches are taking action in regard to cases where the person is or was a member of their branch, and a further point has been made by several Unions who have raised the legal position and explained that their rules would not permit them to subscribe to a fund for the purpose you have in mind.
I may say that I raised this matter on a previous occasion at the instigation of Mr. Brailsford. The
