"You will be interested to learn that the Spanish Medical Aid Committee has undertaken the medical care of refugees for whom the British Committee for Refugees from Spain makes itself responsible.
In this respect we are fitting out with medical material and drugs the refugee ship which leaves Port Vendres for Mexico on May 15th (S.S. " Sinaia ").
We have asked General Molesworth who is in charge of the preparations to let you have such a requisition immediately. Would you be good enough to buy these materials for us and send them straight to the ship, as we think this would be a greater economy than purchasing them in England.     The account should be rendered to us.     Mr. Jeger is in Marseilles at the moment bringing back our vehicles, and I am writing this letter in his absence.''

"For some time past we have been working with the English authorities to obtain permission for Dr. Willy Glaser and his wife Maria Glaser, who were extricated from the camps at Perpignan by our representative Miss Rosita Davson, to enter this country.     They were staying in Paris at Rue Milton 30 for some weeks, and just as we heard that the Home Office had given them permission to come to this country and had sent them a telegram to that effect, we have received the news that they have been arrested and convoyed back to the camp at Perpignan. From that moment we have not heard of their whereabouts, although we hoped they would have sent a letter to us to let us know in which camp they were.
Naturally the Home Office will not allow the permit to be sent to any vague address.     Indeed they have suggested that the only person to whom they will remit it is a British Consul. Presumably the Consul at Perpignan would be the appropriate person.
I know how terrifically busy you must be at the moment with preparations for the '' Sinaia " but I beg you as soon as you have a moment to spare to try to help this unfortunate couple, who have suffered much in the past 8 years and who thought they were just at the moment of release from their major difficulties.
If you could do two things it would be very helpful to us:- (a) discover exactly where Dr. Glaser and his wife are situated. This would perhaps not be difficult if I tell you that they were evacuated from Paris on the 5th of May and that we gather from our comrade Ruth Forster that they were sent immediately with other Spanish fighters to Perpignan:    (b) ask the British Consul whether he would be prepared to receive the permit from the Home Office and to help in sending Dr. Glaser and his wife to England.
