              SPANISH MEDICAL AID COMMITTEE
Minutes of the Meeting held at 69, Great Russell Street, W.C.1.
on Wednesday, June 14th, 1939.
Present:-   Dr. H.B. Morgan in the Chair.
The Countess of Huntingdon, Mr. C.H. Norman, Drs. H. Boyde and S.W. Jeger, Mrs. L. Manning, Mrs. I. Brown, Mr. G. Jeger.
Apologies for absence were received from Miss Adam, Lord Faringdon, Mr. Coyne, Dr. Joules and Dr. Gillison.
1. The Minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed and signed.
2. Matters arising:-
a) Arrangements for the release by the Customs of the 14 cases of material returned from Marseilles were proceeding.
b) The film of the Refugee Camps had arrived, and would be available for showing soon.
c) There was no further news of Miss Addy; newspaper reports of conditions in Spain confirmed the Foreign Office description of them as "chaotic", but we were assured that the British Consuls in Spain were doing whatever possible for her.
d) Dr. Duran now asked for financial assistance, since the £10. he was expecting from Dr. Beattie had not yet arrived.    It was agreed to make enquiries through Dr. Vaughan about this, and meanwhile to grant Dr. Duran £2.10.0. per week pending further consideration at the next meeting.     Discretion to give an additional £1. per week if necessary was given to the Organizing Secretary. It was also decided to approach Doctors for offers of hospitality for medical refugees.
e)    Dr. Gillison had been successful in obtaining a post for Mrs. Glaser as assistant nurse in a nursery school in Bermondsey.    This carried with it accommodation for both the Glasers, and would last for about 8 weeks. A statement of account showed that Dr. Glaser had deposited with our office in Barcelona a total equivalent of £40, and what in grants and expenses he had received from us £45.10.0.    It was pointed out that the deposits were intended for the continuance of the education of his son, and after discussion the following resolution was moved:-"That of the money deposited by Dr. Glaser we treat £20. as still remaining in a Trust Fund for his son, and that we make grants to him up to £10., after the payment of which we reconsider the position."
An amendment was moved:- "That we endorse the payments previously made to and for Dr. Glaser as being grants from the Committee's funds, and that we hold in trust the money paid in to our account in Barcelona." The amendment was carried by 5 votes to 2. It was agreed that the usual grant be made this week, but amounts of future payments be fixed when the terms of Mrs. Glaser's appointment are known.
f) The British Refugee Committee had heard that the " Sinaia " had arrived at Vera Cruz amid great enthusiasm.    It had
