              SPANISH MEDICAL AID COMMITTEE 
MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD AT 69, GREAT RUSSELL STREET, W.C.1.
AUGUST 2nd 1939.
Present:-   Dr. H.B. Morgan in the Chair.
Miss N. Adam, Lord Faringdon, Mr. C.H. Norman, Mrs. L. Manning, Dr. J.A. Gillison, Mrs. I. Brown, Mr. George Jeger.
1.    The Minutes of the Meeting held July 19th were confirmed and and signed.
Matters arising.
a) The British Committee for Refugees from Spain were now taking up the matter of the Durmayers, on a guarantee obtained by the Austrian Self-Aid Committee.
It was decided that both these Committees should be asked for details of what they were doing for the Durmayers, with a view to expediting the matter.
b) Both the Student's Committee and the Nursing Committee had advised us of their inability to do anything in the case of Miss Sara Schauer, who is at present in a French Camp. Dr. Morgan undertook to bring her appeal to the notice of a Medical Committee for Refugees.
c)    Grants to Refugee Doctors in London -  It was agreed to continue the present Grants until the next Committee Meeting when they would be again considered.
The proposal that Dr. & Mrs. Duran should move from their Pension to a flat or house which had been offered to them was approved.
Mrs. Glaser needed overalls etc. for her job, and it was agreed that we allow her up to £2. 10. 0. for this purpose.
In response to a similar request from Miss Annie Moldauer, an Austrian Radiographer who had worked in Spain, it was decided that she be lent money to buy the items needed, up to £2.
d) The C.S.I. were investigating the case of Dr. Ros in Paris, but had no news up to the present.    It was decided that we ask Dr. Ros to get in touch with the C.S.I.
e) Another case of a Spanish Refugee inmate of Friern Hospital, Ricardo Curia Cabra, had been brought to our attention by the L.C.C. who sent a bill for maintenance amounting to £18.2.3 up to July 20th.
A request for a reduction in the charges has been made and both cases are being considered by the L.C.C.
f) A further Report had been received from Miss Madge Addy, and passed on to the Parliamentary Committee for Spain, who were arranging to have it circulated in a summarised form to M.P.s and to place it before the Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary.
In the absence of information as to whether this had yet been done, it was decided that enquiries be made.
g)    It appears that no arrangements are being made by the British Committee for Refugees from Spain for further Refugee Ships to Mexico etc. until the position is clarified.
