Mr. T.G. Thompson,
Financial Secretary,
The Stratford No.1 Branch of the National Union of Railwaymen,
60, Cowley Road,
Leytonstone, E.11.
Dear Mr. Thompson,
INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY FUND - " SAVE THE BASQUE CHILDREN FUND "
I have your letter of the 4th instant enclosing cheque value £6. as a donation to the Fund for the Basque Children. I have pleasure in enclosing herewith our official receipt for this amount and desire to convey to the members of your branch our very best thanks for their assistance.
With regard to the other cheque for £6. I am wondering whether you wish this to be sent to the Spanish Medical Aid Committee which is an ad hoc body set up specifically to deal with medical aid, or whether you desire it to come to the International Solidarity Fund which is providing both food and medical supplies and services in Spain.
You will probably be aware that the International Solidarity Fund has opened a base hospital at Onteniente with 350 beds and this can only be extended as additional funds are received.
Under the circumstances will you please let me know whether the cheque is intended for the Spanish Medical Aid Committee or for the International Fund being administered by a Joint Committee of the International Federation of Trade Unions and the Labour and Socialist International.
Yours sincerely,
Assistant Secretary.
