Scottish Ambulance Unit in Spain : inter-departmental correspondence
I.C.3.
TRADES UNION CONGRESS GENERAL COUNCIL
INTER-DEPARTMENTAL CORRESPONDENCE.
From H. V. Tewson. Department Secretary's.
To. Sir Walter Citrine. Date 1st February, 1938.
SUBJECT.
SCOTTISH AMBULANCE UNIT IN SPAIN.
Since mentioning the possibility of a £250 grant to the Scottish Ambulance Unit, I find that the £500 grant given in October brought the total amount we have given them to £2,750. If we could give them another £250 it would make a round figure of £3,000. The total grant made to the Spanish Medical Aid Committee is £1,850.
There is a big discrepancy between the grants which have been made, although the Spanish Medical Aid Committee are still doing fairly well in raising funds whereas the opposite is the case with the Scottish Unit.
If the proviso is made that the £250 is spent on food I think we could still make the grant. If you agree and approve the attached letter, I will have the usual formal word with Mr. Middleton and have a cheque made out.
