Dear Mr. Conley,
SPAIN.
I have now had an opportunity of going carefully into your letter of the 23rd April last, with regard to your kind offer in volunteering for some work in Spain with the Spanish Medical Aid Committee.     To be quite frank, speaking in a purely personal capacity, I do not see how the Spanish Medical Aid Committee could place you at the moment.     What is really needed by them in Spain at the present time are either ambulance drivers or nurses, or those with some highly technical knowledge, either of electricity or mechanics in connection with motor vehicles.
I am writing to you quite frankly in return for your commendable frankness to me. I greatly admire the spirit of your offer and would not like to turn you down or to dissuade you purely on my personal opinion.     I think, therefore, you should put in a formal application to the Organising Secretary of the Spanish Medical Aid Committee, 24, New Oxford Street, London, W.C.1., stating exactly your position or qualifications, your reason for desiring to go to Spain, and any other particulars about yourself you may care to mention.
